Why Is My Intuition Not Working? 7 Reasons You Have Lost It

why is my intuition not working

Everybody talks about how important it is to listen to your gut, tap into your intuition and follow your instincts. So why is my intuition not working? How come your intuition is silenced? In this blog post, I will give you 7 common reasons why you might have lost your intuition.

Why is my intuition not working?

Here are 7 reasons why is your intuition not working:

  1.  Depression and anxiety is blocking your intuition
  2. You are too focused on the external world
  3. You overly rely on logic
  4. You don’t ask for guidance
  5. You ignored your inner world for too long
  6. You are overwhelmed and cluttered
  7. You are disconnected from your body

1. Depression and anxiety is blocking your intuition

When we are depressed or anxious, our minds are usually racing and we don’t have the clarity to listen to our inner voice. It feels like a terror to make any kind of decision. We are caught in a loop of depressive thoughts and it can be so hard to get out.

If you are experiencing depression or anxiety, get help. It’s not easy to do it on your own, but with the support of professional help, you can start to unravel those thoughts that are blocking your intuition.

2. You are too focused on the external world

When you are too externally focused, you lose touch with your inner voice. You get caught up in the drama of life and you don’t take the time to check in with yourself.

This can be especially true if you are a people pleaser or if you have perfectionist tendencies. You are so busy trying to please everyone else that you don’t have time to listen to your intuition.

Intuition lives in your internal world and of course, you cannot access it if you never check in with yourself enough.

3. You overly rely on logic

When you try to find a logical explanation for everything, you are actually shutting down your intuition. Intuition is not about logic, it’s about feeling and sensing. When you try to rationalize every decision, you are killing the little voice that is trying to guide you.

When you depend too much on logic, you are usually trying to control your reality by thinking your way out of it and you are too scared to make intuitive decisions.

I am not asking you to completely ditch your logic. But start seeing the intuitive messages you are getting as valid and important.

4. You don't ask for guidance

Ask and you receive. This is a universal law and it definitely applies to intuition. If you never ask for guidance, how can you expect to get answers?

Sometimes all it takes is asking out loud for help and then the answer will come.

Call it God, spirit or a higher power. Next time you find yourself stuck in a situation, ask for guidance.

5. You ignored your inner world for too long

If you have been ignoring your intuition for a while, it’s going to take some time to rebuild that trust. Intuition is like any other muscle in our body, if we don’t use it, we lose it.

Your intuition is so suppressed, that you can no longer hear it. This usually happens when we have been through a lot of trauma or if we grew up in an environment where our intuition was constantly shut down.

It’s going to take some time and effort on your part, but you can start rebuilding that trust.

I also come from an environment, where my inner feelings were many times diminished as a child. I had to rebuild my inner sense of self in my adulthood.  I am writing about how I did it in my article here.

6. You are overwhelmed and cluttered

When we are feeling overwhelmed and cluttered, our intuition gets drowned out. There is so much going around you all the time and you cannot hear yourself clearly.

This is why it’s so important to create some space in your life. Your intuition is a whisper and you need to be still enough to hear it. Find time for solitude, meditation, and relaxation. When you give yourself time and space, you will start to connect with your intuition again.

7. You are disconnected from your body

Intuition many times comes to you as physical sensations in your body. Our bodies are amazing treasure troves of information and if we don’t pay attention to what it’s telling us, we will miss out on a lot of valuable guidance.

Intuition lives in your body. If you are not checking in your body, you might easily overlook the sensations of openness, sense of relief, or on the other side the sensations of tightness, overwhelm. All of these are your inner self talking to you.

Is fixing your intuition possible?

Yes, absolutely! With a little bit of practice, you will start to trust your intuition again!

Here are a few ideas of what you can do right now to improve your intuitive abilities:

  • Make time for yourself every day to relax and meditate
  • Detox from social media and the internet
  • Pay attention to the signals your intuition is sending you, such as physical sensations in your body
  • Ask for guidance when you are stuck in a situation
  • Connect with nature
  • Spend more time alone in silence to connect with your inner world
  • Journal about times when your intuition was accurate

Final thoughts

Your intuition is your internal GPS. It’s what guides you in life and helps to make the best decisions for yourself. If you are not trusting your gut, then you are going to find yourself lost and feeling confused.

Start paying attention to the signals that your intuition is sending you. Ask for guidance when you need it and be still enough to hear the whispers of your inner voice. With time and practice, you will start to trust yourself again and life will feel a lot easier.

heal feminine energy - how to feel like a woman

As a child, I grew up with a single mother. My mother always had to be tough and strong to make up for the lack of a man in our family.

I always wanted to make my mother proud. So I tried my best to be strong and independent like her. But it was hard – I missed the warmth of a man’s love in our home.

I was working a corporate job and I was completely exhausted. I was frustrated with dating men who weren’t very masculine, and I felt like something was missing in my life.

But one day, everything changed.  I learned about femininity – how being feminine could  help me feel more fulfilled in life.

Suddenly, everything made sense. And so I began to incorporate more feminine aspects into my life.

My relationships improved, my self-esteem soared, and I finally felt like myself again. It was an amazing transformation, and I am so grateful that I learned about femininity early in life.

Now, I’m sharing what I’ve learned with thousands of other women through my blog.
